Position: Senior Software Development Engineer Work location: San Francisco, CA Wage: $202,112 - $216,000 / per year Job Duties: Research, design, and develop computer and network software or specialized utility programs. Analyze user needs and develop software solutions, applying principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis. Update software or enhance existing software capabilities. May work with computer hardware engineers to integrate hardware and software systems, and develop specifications and performance requirements. May maintain databases within an application area, working individually or coordinating database development as part of a team. As a thought leader, work with investigating and resolving complex system issues through detailed analysis of system logs and real-time troubleshooting, utilizing knowledge in monitoring job execution, reviewing system logs, and troubleshooting batch processing issues in real-time. Work collaboratively on an Agile scrum team and actively participate in all Agile ceremonies. Partner closely with product managers, UI designers, software architects and other stakeholders to iteratively turn high level requirements into product enhancements that are delivered to customers incrementally and continually. Participate in code and document reviews. Practice continuous learning and actively participate in knowledge-sharing sessions as a presenter and as an attendee. Contribute to the design and architecture to enable secure, scalable, and maintainable software. Support the products and services we build by participating in an on-call rotation with your teammates. Ensure data integrity and efficient transaction processing by leveraging expertise to support the development and maintenance of database systems, utilizing knowledge of complex IBM DB2 database schemas and SQL queries to support concurrent transaction processing and ACID-compliant data integrity for loan and guarantee fund management systems. Must be available to work on projects at various, unanticipated sites throughout the United States. Telecommuting is permitted. Minimum Requirements: Masters degree in Computer Science or related field and three (3) years of experience in the job offered or in a software engineer-related occupation. Special Requirements: Position requires at least three (3) years of experience in each of the following skills: 1. Utilize knowledge of COBOL and JCL on z/OS to develop and maintain backend batch processes, automate credit line management, and guarantee fund work workflows for banking institutions. 2. Utilize SDSF extensively to monitor job execution, review system logs, and troubleshoot batch processing issues in real-time. 3. Utilize knowledge of complex IBM DB2 database schemas and SQL queries to support concurrent transaction processing and ACID-compliant data integrity for loan and guarantee fund management systems. 4. Utilize SPUFI for executing and validating SQL statements during development and testing. 5. Utilize knowledge of BMC DB2 utilities database schemas and SQL queries to implement recovery and backup mechanisms, including log management and data replication. 6. Utilize knowledge of immutability and pure functions alongside encapsulation and inheritance principals to build scalable and maintainable modules for credit risk analysis and loan processing. 7. Utilize knowledge of design patterns to improve code reusability and facilitate testability by leveraging REXX to develop reusable utility scripts and automation tools, supporting testing and configuration tasks. 8. Utilize knowledge of dynamic programming and greedy algorithms to optimize credit eligibility checks and scoring models, enhance accuracy and reduce computational overhead in small and medium-sized enterprise loan assessments. 9. Leverage DFSORT and ICETOOL within JCL batch jobs to efficiently process, filter and transform large datasets, enabling faster rule evaluations and reducing I/O bottlenecks in legacy systems. 10. Utilize knowledge of code refactoring, debugging, and unit testing to modernize legacy COBOL applications and integrate APIs that enable deployment on cloud platforms. Employ Changeman for code management and promotion across environments. 11. Utilize knowledge of application testing and incremental integration to ensure stability of new features in banking systems that support loan applications. 12. Utilize knowledge of Agile Scrum to apply iterative development, sprint planning, and retrospectives for banking software enhancements. Position requires at least one (1) academic semester of graduate-level coursework or some experience in each of the following skills: 13. Utilize knowledge of React, Redux, Angular, TypeScript, applying component-based architecture, state management, and RESTful API integration to develop responsive web applications. 14. Utilize knowledge of Cypher query language and graph data modeling techniques to design and implement ETL pipelines that extract, transform, and load data from multiple sources into Neo4j graph database.
