Job description
This opportunity is designed for a Finnish payroll professional who enjoys combining careful data review with practical customer guidance. You will oversee recurring payroll work for assigned accounts, confirm that results reflect approved inputs, and help international employers navigate Finland-specific payroll obligations.
The Work
Each payroll cycle begins with a review of customer submissions. You will identify missing information, investigate unusual movements, and agree corrections before calculation. Once results are available, you will assess totals, confirm payment and accounting outputs, and organize the required reporting activities.
Your regular responsibilities will include:
Reviewing employee master-data updates, working time, absence, benefits, deductions, and variable compensation.
Checking tax, pension, insurance, and employer-cost calculations.
Comparing current results with source records and previous payroll periods.
Coordinating payment instructions, finance postings, and statutory information.
Supporting annual processes and responding to audit or customer queries.
Turning Finnish legislative updates into clear procedures and control changes.
Protecting confidential employee and payroll information at every stage.
Working With Customers
You will serve as a knowledgeable contact for customers rather than only processing transactions. This means setting expectations before cut-off, explaining calculation outcomes, documenting decisions, and maintaining ownership of unresolved actions. Delivery risks must be raised early, with practical options for resolution.
For new customers, you will examine setup readiness, assist with parallel calculations, and confirm that the service can move into normal operation. You will also distinguish contracted work from additional requests and coordinate scope decisions with the appropriate commercial teams.
Building a Better Service
Continuous improvement is part of the position. You will review recurring questions, late inputs, and corrections to find their underlying causes. Improvements may include stronger input instructions, redesigned checklists, automated comparisons, or clearer customer calendars. You will maintain Finland-specific operating guidance and prepare another team member to provide reliable coverage.
Experience and Capabilities
Demonstrated experience delivering Finnish payroll.
Sound knowledge of local taxation, pensions, insurance, employment-related reporting, and employer duties.
Ability to work with payroll platforms, spreadsheets, structured data, payment files, and accounting records.
Strong variance investigation and reconciliation skills.
Clear written and spoken English for working with international customers and colleagues.
Organized, independent working style and consistent attention to deadlines.
Previous experience in outsourced payroll, shared services, or customer-facing delivery is valuable.
Education in payroll, accounting, finance, human resources, or business is preferred.
Measures of Success
Success will be demonstrated by meeting every confirmed payroll deadline, maintaining at least 99.7% calculation accuracy, and completing Finnish statutory activities without avoidable delay. At least 95% of assigned service requests should close within target. During the first year, you will also introduce two preventive controls, validate all Finland process guidance, and establish trained backup coverage for every assigned account.
