Job description
Mercans is seeking a payroll professional to support Vietnamese payroll services for international clients. This part-time role manages assigned payroll activities, statutory reporting, client communication, and operational controls to ensure accurate and dependable delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll Delivery
Coordinate Vietnamese payroll activities from data collection through review, approval, and release.
Validate employee changes, earnings, deductions, taxes, benefits, and statutory contributions.
Reconcile payroll calculations, payment files, and accounting outputs before submission.
Maintain payroll calendars and meet all client and regulatory deadlines.
Support year-end reporting, statutory filings, audits, and required payments.
Compliance and Quality
Apply Vietnamese payroll, tax, labor, and social-insurance requirements.
Monitor regulatory changes and update payroll procedures and controls.
Perform payroll testing and investigate calculation or configuration discrepancies.
Maintain accurate, confidential, and audit-ready payroll records.
Use automated validations and reconciliations to reduce errors and manual work.
Client Support
Act as a payroll contact for assigned clients and internal teams.
Provide clear updates on progress, deadlines, risks, tickets, and resolutions.
Ensure services remain within contractual scope and escalate potential gaps.
Track service requests and support resolution within agreed SLAs.
Review recurring incidents, complete root cause analysis, and recommend improvements.
Onboarding and Continuity
Support client implementation, Hypercare, testing, and transition into regular operations.
Review configurations, service agreements, process documents, and handover checklists.
Maintain client-specific SOPs, wage-type catalogs, data dictionaries, and change records.
Share knowledge with backup colleagues to support uninterrupted delivery.
Requirements
At least three years of payroll operations, outsourced payroll, or payroll consulting experience.
Practical knowledge of Vietnamese payroll and local statutory requirements.
Experience supporting international clients or multi-country payroll operations.
Strong reconciliation, compliance, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent English communication and stakeholder-management abilities.
Ability to manage deadlines independently in a remote, part-time position.
Degree in Finance, Accounting, Human Resources, Business, or a related field is preferred.
Professional payroll certification is an advantage.
Success Measures
Maintain payroll accuracy of at least 99.5%.
Complete assigned payroll cycles by agreed deadlines.
Deliver statutory submissions accurately and on time.
Support resolution of at least 95% of assigned tickets within SLA.
Keep all client documentation complete and current.
Reduce processing time through automation and workflow improvements.
Maintain strong client satisfaction through proactive communication and reliable service.
