Job description
Senior Cloud FinOps Analyst
Azure & AWS Rate Optimization
Location: Remote - United States
Base Salary: $100-135k DOE, plus benefits and long-term incentive program
A lot of people can explain what a Savings Plan is. Far fewer can explain why it is underutilized, what to investigate beyond a usage drop, and what to do next without simply recommending more commitment.
We are partnering with a profitable, fast-growing B2B SaaS company that has built an autonomous cloud cost-optimization platform managing billions in customer cloud spend. They are looking for a Senior Cloud FinOps Analyst to help solve the complex operational, technical, and financial problems behind cloud discount management at scale.
This is not a dashboard-and-reporting role. You will work at the intersection of cloud billing, data analysis, financial modeling, and rate optimization, digging into the mechanics behind Reserved Instances, Savings Plans, coverage, utilization, discount application, and cloud billing behavior.
What You Will Do
• Analyze cloud cost, usage, coverage, utilization, and billing data to identify optimization opportunities, anomalies, and commitment risk.
• Lead hands-on AWS and/or Azure rate optimization, including Reservations and Savings Plans for Compute.
• Diagnose underutilized commitments by examining workload changes, account structure, discount application, eligible spend, pricing, and operational edge cases-not just usage trends.
• Use spreadsheets and data to validate rates, discounts, financial impact, and commitment decisions.
• Partner with product, engineering, operations, and customer teams to solve complex FinOps problems and improve automation.
• Help build smarter, more scalable processes for autonomous multi-cloud discount management.
What You Bring
• Hands-on FinOps, cloud billing, cloud cost optimization, or complex financial and technical operations experience.
• Strong experience with Azure Reservations and Azure Savings Plans for Compute.
• Solid AWS EC2 discount-instrument knowledge, especially Compute Savings Plans and Convertible Reserved Instances.
• Clear understanding of the difference between coverage and utilization, including the factors that can affect each.
• Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills and comfort with ad hoc data analysis, rate calculations, and financial tradeoffs.
• Strong problem-solving instincts, attention to detail, and the judgment to get past surface-level explanations.
• Ownership, curiosity, candor, humility, and a growth mindset.
Nice to Have
• AWS Organizations, consolidated billing, multi-account billing, or GCP CUD experience.
• SQL, BI tools, financial modeling, or cloud cost-management tooling.
• Particular expertise with Azure.
• A story about an unconventional or creative approach you used to improve commitment utilization, reduce risk, or solve a cloud discount-management problem.
Why This Role
• Solve high-impact cloud-optimization problems involving real spend and real commitment risk.
• Build deep expertise in Azure, AWS, and multi-cloud rate optimization.
• Join a profitable, growing software company with a low-ego, high-accountability culture.
• Fully remote, with strong benefits, long-term incentives, and very few useless meetings.
Apply today if you enjoy taking a messy cloud-billing problem, finding the missing variable, and turning it into a clear, practical answer.
You'll be taken to the employer's application page.
