Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Builders Risk Underwriter to drive profitable growth within a specialized Builders Risk portfolio. This role will be responsible for underwriting new and renewal business, cultivating key wholesale broker relationships, developing policy wording solutions, and contributing to strategic portfolio management. The ideal candidate combines strong technical underwriting expertise with a proven ability to generate business and build lasting broker partnerships.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a robust pipeline of new business opportunities through strategic broker engagement and relationship management.
• Underwrite new and renewal Builders Risk accounts by analyzing risk exposures, loss history, construction characteristics, catastrophe exposures, and project-specific underwriting considerations.
• Evaluate and price risks utilizing underwriting tools, market intelligence, portfolio analytics, and individual account experience.
• Achieve targeted profitability objectives, including premium growth, loss ratio, retention, rate adequacy, new business production, and portfolio quality metrics.
• Build, manage, and strengthen relationships with wholesale brokers to expand market presence and drive profitable submissions.
• Identify emerging risk trends and implement corrective actions through collaboration with Claims, Risk Control, Product Development, and other internal stakeholders.
• Develop, enhance, and maintain Builders Risk policy forms, endorsements, manuscript wording, and coverage solutions.
• Review and manage policy transactions including endorsements, extensions, renewals, and mid-term servicing requests.
• Ensure underwriting decisions align with company guidelines, risk appetite, and regulatory requirements.
• Stay informed of industry trends, legal developments, market conditions, and claims activity to support product innovation and underwriting strategy.
• Provide superior service by delivering timely underwriting decisions, quotes, and policy documentation.
• Represent the organization in the marketplace through broker visits, marketing meetings, training sessions, and industry events.

This will be 4 days "in-office" and can be located in any of the following cities: Dallas, TX; Alpharetta, GA; Chicago, IL; Scottsdale, AZ; New York, NY; Boston, MA
