Director of Accounting

Director of Accounting Nashville, TN Full-Time Onsite A privately held Nashville-area organization is seeking a Director of Accounting to oversee its accounting function and play a key role in strengthening processes, reporting, and financial operations. This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys working in a collaborative, smaller-company environment and is comfortable taking ownership of the accounting function. Responsibilities Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, reconciliations, journal entries, AP/AR, and month-end processes Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting Maintain and oversee the company's accounting systems and processes Review and improve accounting procedures and internal controls Monitor collections, payments, and cash activity Work closely with leadership and external accounting partners Support annual reporting and other financial compliance requirements Assist with the implementation and optimization of new accounting technology and automation Provide guidance and oversight to other members of the accounting team Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and organization within the accounting function Qualifications 5+ years of progressive accounting experience Experience in an Accounting Manager, Assistant Controller, Controller, or similar role preferred Strong knowledge of general accounting principles and financial reporting Strong QuickBooks experience required Highly organized with strong attention to detail Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of responsibilities Strong communication and interpersonal skills Experience working in a small to midsize organization is a plus Public accounting experience is also welcome By submitting to this position, you are agreeing to be included in our talent pool for future hiring for similarly qualified positions.
