Journeyman Electrician - Prefabrication Shop

Pay: $40-$45 per hour (DOE)

Job Description

We are seeking experienced Journeyman Electricians with strong commercial and industrial electrical experience to join our electrical prefabrication team in Denver, Colorado.

This position is primarily shop-based and focuses on the fabrication, assembly, and preparation of electrical components and systems for commercial and industrial construction projects.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience reading electrical blueprints, bending conduit, assembling electrical equipment, and overseeing the production of prefabricated electrical systems. Candidates should be comfortable working in a fast-paced shop environment while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and productivity.

Key Responsibilities

1. Electrical Prefabrication: Assemble and fabricate electrical components, including conduit assemblies, electrical panels, junction boxes, equipment racks, and other prefabricated electrical systems.
2. Conduit Bending and Installation: Measure, cut, thread, and bend EMT, IMC, and rigid conduit using hand benders, mechanical benders, and hydraulic bending equipment.
3. Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, shop drawings, and specifications to accurately fabricate electrical assemblies.
4. Electrical Assembly: Build and assemble electrical components, including conduit racks, trapeze supports, strut assemblies, panelboards, and electrical distribution equipment.
5. Material Preparation: Measure, cut, organize, and prepare electrical materials for prefabrication and shipment to construction sites.
6. Quality Control: Inspect completed assemblies to ensure accuracy, proper workmanship, and compliance with project specifications and applicable electrical codes.
7. Shop Production: Work efficiently to meet daily production goals and project deadlines while maintaining high-quality workmanship.
8. Team Leadership: Provide guidance and direction to electrical apprentices and other shop personnel to ensure work is completed safely and efficiently.
9. Safety Compliance: Maintain a clean and organized work environment while following OSHA regulations, company safety procedures, and proper equipment operation practices.
10. Coordination: Collaborate with shop supervisors, project managers, and field personnel to ensure prefabricated electrical assemblies meet project requirements and installation schedules.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid Colorado Journeyman Electrician license.
• Minimum of 4 years of commercial or industrial electrical experience.
• Previous electrical prefabrication or electrical shop experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
• Ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and shop drawings.
• Extensive experience bending and installing EMT, IMC, and rigid conduit.
• Experience with electrical panel assembly, conduit racks, strut systems, and electrical distribution equipment.
• Proficiency with electrical hand tools, power tools, mechanical benders, and hydraulic bending equipment.
• Ability to accurately measure, cut, and assemble electrical components according to project specifications.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with other electricians and shop personnel.
• Experience leading or training electrical apprentices is preferred.
• Reliable transportation and consistent attendance.
