Position Overview
The Staff Accountant will own the company's day-to-day accounting operations. This role will manage AP and AR, perform account reconciliations, maintain the general ledger, support month-end and year-end close activities, and prepare financial reports.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain the general ledger and financial records in QuickBooks Online.
- Process AP end-to-end: invoice verification, coding, approvals, and payment processing.
- Manage AR: including invoicing, posting customer payments, monitoring outstanding balances, and following up on past-due accounts.
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and payroll accounts monthly, and resolve discrepancies.
- Classify costs correctly between COGS and operating expenses, in the right period.
- Prepare and post routine and adjusting journal entries.
- Support monthly and year-end close activities, including account reconciliations, accruals, journal entries, and financial statement preparation.
- Assist with tax preparation, budgeting, and other financial projects.
Minimum Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of accounting, staff accounting, or full-cycle bookkeeping experience.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Excel, including formulas, PivotTables, data analysis, and financial reporting.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices (general ledger accounting, reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and financial statements).
- Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank and credit card reconciliations, and month-end close.
- Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities, meet deadlines, and work independently while following established procedures.
