Job description
Flexicrew Technical Services (FTS) is seeking a Structural Welder II to perform structural steel welding and fabrication in a shop environment. This position applies appropriate welding processes to join and fabricate metal components and structures while consistently meeting production and safety requirements.
Essential Duties:
• Understand and follow all applicable safety policies and procedures.
• Set up welding equipment and weld metal parts using gas welding and combinations of arc welding processes.
• Perform structural steel fabrication and welding using appropriate welding processes.
• Demonstrate proficiency with flux-core welding in the 3G position.
• Operate cutting torches and carbon arc torches to cut, prepare, and join components of steel structures.
• Successfully complete required employer performance tests or standard welding tests necessary to meet applicable certification requirements.
• Maintain good housekeeping practices and properly dispose of waste in accordance with safety and environmental policies.
• Consistently meet or exceed established production and safety requirements for assigned projects.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager or Supervisor.
Requirements/Skills:
• Minimum two to four years of experience in structural steel welding and fabrication preferred.
• Verified structural weld test and/or demonstrated ability to perform required basic welding skills according to testing requirements.
• Proficiency with flux-core welding from the 3G position.
• Ability to properly set up and operate welding and cutting equipment.
• Verbal communication skills sufficient to perform assigned responsibilities.
• Ability to work effectively in a fabrication shop environment and follow established safety procedures.
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to work 100% of the time in a shop environment.
• Ability to work around typical fabrication-shop hazards, including welding fumes, welding arc flash, high noise levels, skin irritants, and debris generated from welding and grinding operations.
• Ability to perform physical activities requiring considerable use of the arms and legs.
• Ability to stand approximately 80% of the workday and regularly walk, climb, bend, and stoop.
• Ability to lift, push, pull, and handle materials weighing up to 45 pounds.
