Direct Counsel represents an AmLaw 100 firm seeking a Financial Institutions Associate with 3-6 years of post-JD experience to join its sophisticated Financial Institutions practice.
The ideal candidate will have experience advising banks, fintechs, payment platforms/processors, or cryptocurrency companies on regulatory and compliance matters.
Responsibilities- Advise financial institutions on federal banking laws and regulations.
- Counsel clients on consumer financial protection laws, including Reg E, Reg Z, Reg XX, and Reg B.
- Advise on anti-money laundering (AML) requirements and economic sanctions.
- Counsel clients regarding regulations and guidance administered by OFAC and FinCEN.
- Advise on regulatory compliance, supervisory matters, transactions, and enforcement issues.
- Research complex regulatory matters and provide practical, strategic advice.
- 3-6 years of post-JD experience in financial services regulatory law.
- Experience at a bank regulatory agency, law firm, in-house legal department, or similar environment advising financial institutions.
- Knowledge of one or more of the following areas:
- Federal banking laws and regulations.
- Consumer financial protection laws.
- AML and economic sanctions.
- Experience with banks, fintechs, payment companies, or cryptocurrency businesses is a plus.
- J.D. from an accredited law school.
- Active bar admission and membership in good standing in the applicable jurisdiction.
- Excellent legal writing, research, and analytical skills.
- Strong communication skills and ability to contribute effectively in a collaborative environment.
