American Institute of Beauty (AIB) is a postsecondary beauty and wellness vocational school with two locations in Pinellas County and one location in Manatee County, Florida. Students attend AIB to pursue a career in cosmetology, barbering, nail technology, massage therapy and skin therapy.
AIB is expanding its Barber program at its St Petersburg location and needs to add a barbering educator. This person will be responsible for educating and supervising enrolled students as to both the theory behind and practical applications of all aspects of barbering, including hair cutting, styling and design, facial and straight razon shaving, chemical services, facials, diseases and disorders of the skin, sanitation/disinfection, hair replacement, professionalism, the history of barbering, resume creation and marketing/social media. That educator is provided with all the tools necessary to teach the curriculum required for students to graduate and sit for the Florida Barber Licensing Exam.
The successful applicant must be licensed as a barber (BAR 1) by the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation ("DBPR") and have a minimum of two years full time experience (or the part time equivalent) as a practicing barber.
Bilingual (English and Spanish) preferred. Previous teaching experience is preferred but not required. The successful candidate must be enthusiastic about the barbering profession and motivated to teach others about that profession. Part-time, evening opportunities are available. Barber classes are taught Tuesday through Saturday.
Salary will be commensurate on experience, with a starting range of $18 to $20 per hour. Benefits which may be elected are: 401K participation, health, dental and vision insurance, and Paid Time Off.
