Mechanical Estimator
Location: Miami, FL (Hybrid: 1 day/week remote after 3 months)
Travel: Occasional short trips within the US and Caribbean (2 4 days max)

A leading international general contractor is seeking an experienced Mechanical Estimator to lead preconstruction and estimating efforts across landmark commercial building projects in South Florida and the Caribbean. Backed by a global construction network operating across more than 20 countries, the organization delivers complex, high-profile projects spanning hospitality, commercial offices, aviation, and healthcare.
Role Overview
You will manage cost estimation and the preparation of comprehensive bid packages focused primarily on Mechanical, HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection trades, with occasional exposure to specialized packages like commercial kitchens and pools.
Key Responsibilities
Read and interpret full sets of architectural and engineering drawings and specifications.
Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and prepare internal baseline estimates.
Scope, assemble, and distribute comprehensive bid packages.
Identify, prequalify, and maintain strong relationships with regional subcontractors and vendors.
Issue, track, and resolve RFIs with design teams, owners, and trade partners.
Analyze trade proposals, identify scope gaps, and estimate corresponding cost impacts.
Collaborate with the Preconstruction Manager to prepare client-facing deliverables, including Schedules of Values (SoV), bid tabulations, GMP presentations, and assumption narratives.
Interface directly with joint venture partners, design consultants, and internal project teams.
Required Qualifications
Bachelors or Masters degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of dedicated estimating experience handling MEP/HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection scopes.
Proficiency in takeoff and estimating software (e.g., On-Screen Takeoff, Bluebeam) and Microsoft Office Suite (advanced Excel, Word).
Strong written and verbal English communication skills, with a collaborative, team-first mindset.
Ability to undertake occasional, short-duration travel within the US and Caribbean region.
