Job description

This is not a traditional editor role.

This role is NOT for:
General editors or content writers
Marketing / communications professionals without policy depth
Candidates without direct exposure to systemic justice or public policy work

If your background is limited to content, marketing, or general publishing this will NOT be the right fit.

But if you have worked at the intersection of public policy, social justice, and historical research, KEEP READING.

Are you a policy leader, researcher, or editorial strategist passionate about advancing reparative justice, systemic equity, and transformative public policy?
We are seeking a highly experienced Executive Editor to support the development of high-impact policy reports, public-facing publications, and strategic recommendations addressing historical injustices and systemic inequities.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the development, editing, and publication of policy reports and official documents
Synthesize complex research on slavery, systemic racism, and reparative justice into actionable insights
Collaborate with policymakers, researchers, and community stakeholders
Ensure accuracy, integrity, and impact across all written materials
Represent initiatives in public forums, stakeholder meetings, and community engagement efforts
Ideal Candidate Profile:
Extensive experience in public policy, social justice, or reparative justice initiatives
Strong understanding of historical inequities and policy frameworks addressing systemic racism
Proven track record in editing, publishing, and producing high-level reports or government documents
Exceptional communication, advocacy, and stakeholder engagement skills
Background in government, think tanks, academia, or nonprofit leadership preferred

Why This Role Matters:
This is a rare opportunity to contribute to a landmark public initiative focused on addressing historical injustices and shaping future policy at a state level.

Strong Preference:
Candidates with experience in:
Government commissions or advisory boards
Policy institutes or research organizations
Social justice advocacy and legislative work
