Pinnacle Freight Systems, Inc. is a third-generation, Wisconsin-based freight brokerage serving customers throughout North America. Founded in 1987, Pinnacle provides transportation solutions for manufacturers, distributors, and other businesses that depend on reliable freight execution. Our business includes dry van, flatbed, partial, LTL, and specialized transportation, with particular strength in industrial and manufacturing freight. We operate differently than many traditional freight brokerages. Pinnacle operates in small, collaborative teams we call PODs. Each POD separates customer relationship ownership from carrier procurement, allowing people to specialize while working together toward the same customer outcome. Our purpose is simple:Make our partners successful through visibility, clarity, and execution. Our Core Values are:
- Rooted in Community, Connected to the World
- Partnership Before Profit
- Dependability In Every Mile
- Grow with Intention, Succeed with Balance We are building a company where strong people, strong systems, and strong relationships allow us to grow without losing the personal service that has defined Pinnacle since 1987. Want the competition and energy of freight brokerage without the every-person-for-themselves culture?Pinnacle Freight Systems is hiring a Carrier Sales Representative / Freight Broker to join our growing Greenfield, Wisconsin operations team. At Pinnacle, carrier sales is a team sport. Our BPRs secure capacity, negotiate rates, build strong carrier relationships, and work side-by-side with customer-facing teammates to execute freight successfully. This is not a traditional my freight, my carriers brokerage environment. Pinnacle operates as a team. Our BPRs work from shared freight opportunities and make decisions based on what is best for the customer, the POD, and the company as a whole. The right person is competitive without being territorial, comfortable making calls, confident negotiating rates, organized under pressure, and motivated by solving difficult transportation problems. Primary Responsibilities:
- Source and secure qualified carrier capacity for customer shipments
- Negotiate carrier rates while balancing cost, service, and shipment requirements
- Build and maintain strong relationships with dependable motor carriers
- Match equipment, geography, commodity, timing, and service requirements with the right carrier
- Work with dry van, flatbed, partial, LTL, and specialized freight
- Confirm pickup, delivery, appointment, tracking, equipment, and special requirements with carriers
- Evaluate carriers using Pinnacle's carrier qualification and risk-management standards
- Identify potential fraud, double-brokering, cargo-theft, insurance, authority, or service concerns before tendering freight
- Communicate carrier availability, market conditions, rate changes, and service risks to the POD
- Accurately document carrier activity and shipment information in Pinnacle's transportation-management system
- Work collaboratively from a shared freight queue and help balance workload across the team
- Assist teammates and other PODs when capacity or workload requires it
- Escalate problems early rather than allowing them to become service failures
- Develop new carrier relationships in key Pinnacle markets
- Help improve carrier performance, service reliability, and profitability What Success Looks Like:A successful BPR covers freight quickly without creating unnecessary service risk, develops dependable carrier relationships, negotiates intelligently, communicates problems before they become emergencies, maintains accurate system notes, and makes the entire POD more effective. At Pinnacle, the goal is not simply to book the cheapest truck. The goal is to make a sound transportation decision that protects the customer relationship, Pinnacle's reputation, and the long-term health of the business. If you enjoy the pace and competition of freight brokerage but want to work in an environment where teamwork matters as much as individual performance, we would like to hear from you. Requirements:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Comfortable spending significant time communicating with carriers by phone, email, and transportation systems
- Confidence negotiating transportation rates
- Ability to make sound decisions quickly in a fast-moving environment
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple shipments and priorities simultaneously
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to remain composed when plans change or problems occur
- Willingness to document work accurately in the TMS/CRM
- Team-first attitude and willingness to share information and workload
- Ability to take ownership while knowing when to escalate an issue
- Basic mathematical skills and comfort working with rates, margins, dimensions, weights, and shipment details Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous freight brokerage, carrier sales, dispatch, transportation, logistics, or supply-chain experience
- Experience negotiating with motor carriers
- Knowledge of dry van, flatbed, partial, LTL, or specialized transportation
- Familiarity with transportation-management systems and load boards
- Understanding of DOT/FMCSA carrier information and freight-fraud risks
- Experience developing carrier relationships
- Transportation experience is preferred, but we will consider candidates with strong communication skills, competitive drive, good judgment, and the ability to learn quickly.
