Job Summary

Our client is seeking an Information Technology Specialist II to support mission-critical IT systems and infrastructure within a secure Department of Defense (DoD) environment. This position supports enterprise technologies, network infrastructure, and operational IT systems essential to mission success.


The selected candidate will assist with the installation, configuration, maintenance, and sustainment of enterprise hardware, software, servers, and network infrastructure across physical and virtual environments. The ideal candidate is a proactive technical professional who can troubleshoot complex issues, support end users, and maintain secure and reliable IT operations in a fast-paced environment.


This position supports Windows and Linux operating systems; VMware and Microsoft Hyper-V virtualization platforms; and Microsoft enterprise services, including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, DFS, SQL Server, and Azure. Additional responsibilities include system monitoring, cybersecurity compliance, backup and recovery operations, Common Access Card (CAC) authentication, and troubleshooting hardware, software, network, and peripheral systems.


The Information Technology Specialist II will also support LAN connectivity, network cabling, switches, routers, printers, telephones, uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems, and Video Teleconference (VTC) systems. The position is responsible for supporting IT equipment installation, relocation, accountability, sanitization, and disposal in accordance with applicable DoD security policies and procedures.


Key Responsibilities

The Information Technology Specialist II will:



  • Support IT systems, technical programs, projects, and operational tasks requiring advanced technical oversight and coordination

  • Perform day-to-day IT operations to maintain system availability, performance, reliability, and compliance

  • Coordinate with internal teams, customers, and stakeholders to ensure system requirements and project milestones are achieved

  • Administer and maintain networked and standalone servers, workstations, user accounts, network access, security-monitoring systems, and system documentation

  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware, software, network, and system anomalies

  • Research, evaluate, and recommend system enhancements, emerging technologies, and IT solutions that improve mission performance

  • Administer and support virtualized environments and enterprise services supporting mission operations

  • Provide end-user technical support, including account provisioning, modification, and deactivation

  • Identify Automated Information System (AIS) vulnerabilities and implement appropriate security countermeasures and remediation actions

  • Ensure AIS assets and network infrastructure are operated, maintained, sanitized, and disposed of in accordance with applicable security requirements

  • Support backup, restoration, disaster-recovery, and continuity-of-operations activities

  • Support CAC authentication and access-management requirements

  • Install, configure, relocate, inventory, and maintain IT equipment and peripheral devices

  • Support VTC systems, including scheduling, configuration, administration, and troubleshooting


Required Skills and Experience

Candidates must have:



  • An active Top Secret clearance with eligibility for Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) access

  • At least six years of relevant experience supporting DoD IT systems and operations

  • At least two years of experience supporting Special Access Program (SAP) and/or SCI environments within the past five years

  • Demonstrated experience supporting enterprise IT systems in secure, mission-critical environments

  • Experience supporting Windows and Linux operating systems

  • Experience with servers, workstations, virtualization platforms, network infrastructure, and enterprise services

  • Knowledge of VMware, Microsoft Hyper-V, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, DFS, SQL Server, and Microsoft Azure

  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills across complex IT environments

  • The ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to leadership, customers, and nontechnical stakeholders

  • The ability to prioritize competing responsibilities and work independently with minimal supervision


Education and Certification Requirements

Candidates must have:



  • A bachelors degree in computer science, information technology, or a related discipline

  • CompTIA Security+ or an equivalent or higher-level certification meeting DoD Manual 8140.03 requirements for DCWF Work Role Code 451, System AdministratorIntermediate
