About the Role

We are seeking an analytical and detail-oriented professional to join the risk and compliance team of an established financial services organization. This individual will support the identification, assessment, and resolution of potential financial crime risks by reviewing flagged activity, conducting research, evaluating relevant information, and documenting findings.

The ideal candidate will have experience in AML, financial crime, compliance operations, due diligence, or a related field. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their investigative skills within a regulated business environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review flagged cases, referrals, and other risk-related information to identify potential concerns and determine appropriate next steps.
  • Conduct research using internal records, third-party resources, and publicly available information to establish relevant facts.
  • Evaluate customer and business information to identify inconsistencies, potential risk indicators, and areas requiring further investigation.
  • Analyze findings from multiple sources and develop well-supported conclusions based on established risk assessment procedures.
  • Prepare clear, accurate, and comprehensive case notes documenting research, evidence, conclusions, and recommended actions.
  • Identify cases requiring additional scrutiny and refer significant concerns to the appropriate teams.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across compliance, operations, and risk management to support timely case resolution.
  • Stay informed about relevant industry developments, emerging financial crime risks, and changes in regulatory expectations.
  • Assist with improving internal procedures, recordkeeping practices, and overall operational efficiency.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant professional experience.
  • At least one year of experience in AML, financial crime, compliance, investigations, due diligence, or a related area.
  • Experience reviewing flagged cases, conducting research, evaluating risk, or analyzing customer information.
  • Foundational understanding of financial crime risks and risk-based review procedures.
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to interpret information from multiple sources.
  • Excellent written communication skills and the ability to document findings clearly.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn internal systems and research tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience conducting background research or reviewing information relating to individuals and business entities.
  • Familiarity with customer onboarding, due diligence, and risk assessment processes.
  • Experience identifying discrepancies, evaluating potential risk indicators, and resolving information gaps.
  • Previous experience in banking, financial services, or another regulated industry.
