Job description
Position Overview
This newly created Senior Revenue Management Lead role is part of a growing team that is building a dedicated revenue management service for Global Practice Leaders (GPLs) and their practice groups. You will be the lead contact for a group of GPLs, managing backlog and revenue cycle outcomes and providing the revenue reporting and insights behind key financial decisions. As a senior individual contributor reporting to the Associate Director of Revenue Management, you will also act as a key liaison to partners and to the operational revenue cycle teams. The position is based in Chicago on a hybrid schedule, with three days onsite and two days remote.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the senior revenue advisor to Global Practice Leaders and partners, giving clear guidance on backlog, revenue risk, realization, and overall revenue cycle performance.
- Give practice and firm leadership actionable reporting and insights that inform decisions on backlog, billing, collections, write-offs, realization, and financial performance.
- Work with GPLs and revenue cycle leaders to develop and implement best practices for complex billing arrangements, including milestone billing tied to deal closings, alternative fee arrangements, and busted-deal discounts.
- Serve as the practice group's main contact for revenue matters and escalations, resolving issues quickly and coordinating with Billing, Pricing, Collections, Accounting, and other teams.
- Review revenue activity for the group's largest and most complex clients and matters, spotting trends, risks, and opportunities, and developing mitigation strategies that reduce financial exposure.
- Track client and matter financial performance across the matter lifecycle, flagging risks, deviations from agreed billing arrangements, and policy compliance issues.
- Find and advance process improvements that increase efficiency and improve the revenue cycle experience for the practice group.
Qualifications
- At least 10 years of relevant revenue cycle management experience.
- Experience in the legal industry or a similar professional services organization. Law firm experience is highly valued.
- Bachelor's degree required. A degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred.
- Proven technical and analytical skills, including investigating complex financial issues and identifying practical solutions.
- An understanding of the full revenue cycle, including Billing, Collections, Pricing, or Financial Analysis. Exposure to process improvement or design is a plus.
