Heavy Equipment Technician - Shop or Field

Byron Center, MI $30-$42+/hr DOE Full-Time

Machines don't care what your job title says. They either run or they don't.

We're looking for Heavy Equipment Technicians for shop or field service who know how to troubleshoot, wrench and get equipment back to work. All experience levels are welcome - from a mechanic who's strong on PMs and basic repairs to a seasoned tech who can chase down hydraulic, electrical and engine problems.

What You'll Work On

• Heavy construction equipment repair and service
• Diesel engines and powertrain
• Hydraulic systems and components
• Electrical diagnostics and troubleshooting
• Preventative maintenance and inspections
• Mechanical troubleshooting and component replacement
• Attachments, accessories and aftermarket installations
• Welding and fabrication as needed
• Post-repair testing and function checks
• Service documentation and repair reports

Shop techs will handle repairs, PMs, diagnostics and component work in the shop.

Field techs will head out in a service truck to diagnose and repair customer equipment on-site. When the field slows down, come back to the shop and keep busy there.

CDL is not required for the service truck. If you have a CDL, CDL trucks are available.

Who We're Looking For

If you've spent time in a shop, you know the basics: use your head, use your tools, diagnose before replacing parts, and fix it right.

We're looking for:

• Heavy equipment, diesel, automotive, ag, industrial or related experience
• Strong mechanical aptitude
• Hydraulic and electrical experience is a plus
• Diagnostic/troubleshooting experience is a plus
• Professional tool set
• Valid driver's license
• Reliable work habits
• Someone who takes pride in their repairs and wants to keep learning

Pay & Schedule

• $30-$42+/hr, depending on experience and skill
• Flexible for the right technician
• Monday-Friday
• 7:30 AM-5:00 PM
• Average 45-50 hours/week
• Some Saturdays when needed, but they're rare
