Senior Software Engineer ()

Architect a writing agent within the AI Co-scientist product to give feedback on draft research papers, suggest changes to those papers, and ensure they're supported by their references. Contribute to shared technical capabilities across Co-Scientist products (e.g., scientific paper analysis, citation discovery, research data tools). Integrate large language models (LLMs) into the product to power capabilities such as scientific writing assistance, paper analysis, hypothesis generation, and structured research workflows. Use AI-assisted development tools (e.g., code copilots, LLM-based debugging and refactoring tools) to improve developer productivity, accelerate iteration speed, and maintain high engineering quality. Design, develop, test, and maintain production backend services and web applications using Ruby on Rails, PostgreSQL, Redis, and AWS. Build and maintain scalable APIs, background processing pipelines, and data workflows using Sidekiq and related technologies. Develop user-facing features using React and TypeScript, collaborating with design to implement usable and accessible interfaces. Write high-quality, well-tested, and maintainable code using RSpec, Jest, and CI/CD pipelines. Define and iterate on user workflows, feature requirements, and success metrics based on direct user feedback. Monitor, debug, and optimize system performance, reliability, and observability using tools such as Datadog and Sentry. Integrate AI systems into production services with appropriate monitoring, error handling, and scalability considerations. Collaborate cross-functionally with researchers, product stakeholders, and engineering partners to gather requirements and validate solutions. Deploy and maintain applications and infrastructure using AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, Aurora, Redshift) and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform and Ansible. Support continuous delivery and system reliability through CircleCI, Jenkins, and automated testing practices.

Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor of Science in computer science, or related field, plus 5 years as software engineer. Experience must include demonstrated working knowledge of:

Ruby on Rails, Sidekiq;
PostgreSQL, Redis, Elasticsearch;
React + Typescript;
RSpec, Jest, Storybook, Chromatic;
CircleCI, Jenkins, Datadog, Ansible, Terraform, Kubernetes;
AWS ecosystem (ECS, S3, RDS, Redshift, Aurora, DynamoDB, and many others);
LLM APIs and AI infrastructure for production AI features;
AB Test Tools Statsig
