Real Estate Credit Investment Associate

Job Description

We are working with a mid-sized real estate credit investment platform that are looking to hire an Investment Associate with 2-5 years of experience.

Platform Overview

Our client's team operates across two primary lending strategies, with the platform increasingly shifting toward flow lending partnerships while maintaining its traditional direct lending business. The flow is not boring vanilla loans. It is using debt platforms to amplify their reach and give them purview into a wide range of deals.

Flow Lending:

• Represents approximately 50-65% of lending activity as the platform pivots toward this strategy.

Direct Lending:

• Recently originated an $80MM loan directly.
• Continues to pursue larger, opportunistic transactions and special situations.
• Several investment vehicles specifically seek direct lending exposure.

Capital:

• Invests through seven vehicles, including open-ended funds, closed-end funds and SMAs.
• Potential access to additional insurance capital.
• Expected 2026 origination volume of approximately $1.25BN.
• New hire will focus on lending rather than CMBS trading, although there will be exposure to the securities business.

Key requirements:

• Strong real estate credit fundamentals.
• Significant hands-on underwriting experience, particularly transitional lending.
• Ability to independently run a full transaction from the underwriting perspective.
• Comfortable evaluating complex credit situations rather than simply processing standardized loans.
• Strong communication skills and confidence interacting with lending partners, borrowers and brokers.
• Interested in expanding beyond underwriting into origination and relationship management.
