Job Overview
Join our dynamic construction team as a Pipe Layer, where you will play a vital role in
installing, repairing, and maintaining underground utility systems. Your expertise will
ensure the proper installation of sanitary sewer lines, stormwater systems, water supply
pipelines, and other underground utilities. This position offers an exciting opportunity to
work on large-scale utility system installation projects, adhering to strict safety protocols
and blueprint specifications. Your hands-on skills and attention to detail will contribute
significantly to the successful completion of complex infrastructure projects.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and construction plans to
accurately install underground utilities such as sanitary sewers, stormwater
systems, and water supply pipelines
- Operate heavy equipment including dozers, loaders, backhoes, excavators, and
front loader trucks to excavate trenches and prepare sites for pipe installation
- Install pipes using pipe lasers and other precision tools to ensure proper
alignment and slope according to project specifications
- Perform trenching activities following safety regulations and federal construction
safety standards to prevent accidents and ensure a safe work environment
- Conduct utility locating to identify existing underground utilities before excavation
begins, preventing damage or service disruptions
- Follow all safety protocols diligently, including adherence to OSHA standards and
project-specific safety plans
Qualifications
- Skilled in pipe installation techniques including trenching, bedding, jointing, and
welding of pipelines
- Ability to read blueprints accurately and interpret technical drawings for utility
installations
- Knowledge of wastewater systems, sanitary drainage systems, sewer line
installation, underground utilities installation, stormwater systems, and water
supply systems
- Familiarity with construction trenching procedures and utility trenching safety
practices
- Experience with concrete forming and finishing related to pipeline projects
- Understanding of federal construction safety regulations and safety protocol
adherence during all phases of work
- Strong hand tool skills for minor repairs or adjustments on-site
- Valid certifications in utility locating and heavy equipment operation preferred but
not mandatory
