Position Overview
The Accounting Professional is a specialized role requiring a high degree of trust and accountability, with significant responsibility for the financials across a portfolio of affordable housing properties. This position offers an experienced professional the opportunity to work independently, take initiative, and maintain strong communication with the internal stakeholders who rely on accurate and timely financial information. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, you will work directly with the Executive Team and have meaningful visibility into the broader business.
The position is based in Cleveland, with flexibility to work remotely or from the office, and the ability to make occasional property visits.
What You'll Own
- Property accounting, financial reporting, and month-end close across a portfolio of multifamily affordable housing properties
- Implement and reconcile approved rent changes within the applicable accounting records and GPR
- Accounts receivable, banking, and cash management, including monitoring rent activity, administering payment processing, and working with responsible parties to resolve discrepancies
- Tenant accounting, including move-in and move-out accounting, guarantors, bad debt, and collections
- Utility and property billing, including posting utility charges, monitoring estimated changes, reconciling information, and coordinating the resolution of any discrepancies or corrections
- Monitor accounting and financial activity and reporting in accordance with LIHTC, HUD, and other affordable housing program requirements.
- Budgeting and financial reporting for property and management entities once approved
- Ownership-entity accounting, including tax, audit, and year-end responsibilities
- Transitional and additional accounting responsibilities as the portfolio and business needs evolve
- Daily work in Yardi Voyager, along with Excel and related banking and payment platforms
How You'll Work
- With sound judgment and clear communication, working closely with the Executive Team, Property Management, and Accounts Payable
- Collaboratively with outside accountants and third-party partners to maintain accurate records and meet deadlines, and with Operations and compliance professionals when a matter needs review or approval
- With full discretion, since you will handle sensitive and confidential financial information
