Our challenge:
The Data Modeler will be responsible for developing conceptual, logical, and physical data models for Home Lending and FR Y-14M reporting domains. The individual will collaborate closely with business stakeholders, regulatory reporting teams, data architects, data engineers, business analysts, governance teams, and cloud engineering teams to establish standardized and scalable data structures within the GCP ecosystem.
Additional Information
The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Charlotte, NC is $110k - $120k/year & benefits (see below).
The Role
Responsibilities:
Data Modeling & Architecture
- Design and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models for enterprise applications and analytical platforms.
- Develop scalable data warehouse solutions using Dimensional Modeling, Star Schema, Snowflake Schema, and Data Vault methodologies.
- Define entities, relationships, attributes, business rules, and data standards.
- Apply normalization and denormalization techniques to optimize both transactional and analytical systems.
- Collaborate with solution architects and business teams to translate business requirements into data structures.
Cloud Data Platform
- Design and implement data models on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Support data integration and analytics solutions leveraging:
- BigQuery
- Cloud Storage
- Dataflow
- Dataproc
- Pub/Sub
- Cloud Composer
- Optimize cloud data architectures for scalability, performance, and cost efficiency.
Data Warehousing
- Design enterprise data warehouses and data marts.
- Build and maintain data models supporting reporting, dashboards, and advanced analytics.
- Establish best practices for data partitioning, clustering, and query optimization within BigQuery.
- Support migration of legacy data warehouse platforms to cloud-based ecosystems.
Data Governance & Quality
- Implement and maintain Metadata Management standards.
- Establish end-to-end Data Lineage documentation.
- Ensure compliance with enterprise Data Governance frameworks.
- Partner with data stewardship teams to improve Data Quality and consistency.
- Support Master Data Management (MDM) initiatives and reference data strategies.
Stakeholder Management
- Work closely with Business Analysts, Data Engineers, Architects, and Product Owners.
- Conduct data model reviews and provide recommendations for improvements.
- Communicate modeling standards, data definitions, and governance policies across teams.
