A Day in the Shop

You begin by reviewing shop drawings and interpreting weld symbols, planning your weld sequence, and setting up your station for production. You'll perform flux cored arc welding (FCAW) on plates, angles, beams, channels, and HSS, using overhead cranes to position work. When required, you'll thermal cut, back gouge, and grind for proper fit and sound welds. Throughout the shift you keep your area organized and safe, double check your work, and address issues before QC arrives-flagging any drawing or material discrepancies to your supervisor right away.

This is hands-on, shop-floor fabrication-you'll be on your feet building beams and columns and taking pride in delivering code quality results.

Schedules

Shifts: 40 hours + 9 hours overtime per week is typical

• 1st Shift: 5:30am - 4:00pm, Monday-Thursday, 3:00pm Friday
• 2nd Shift: 4:00pm - 2:30am, Monday-Thursday, 1:30am Friday

What You'll Work With

What You'll Bring

• Hands-on welding experience
• Ability to read blueprints/shop drawings and weld symbols
• Proficiency with a tape measure and production welding setups
• Willingness to learn, take direction, and uphold safety standards
