Location: New York, NY or Atlanta, GA

Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time

Salary: $85,000-$95,000

Start: Immediate start preferred

Work Arrangement: Hybrid, 3 days in-office

About the Role

Our client is a growing, regulated financial technology company seeking a hands-on Payroll, Benefits & HRIS Administrator to join its People team.

Reporting directly to the Global Head of People, this person will take ownership of U.S. payroll, benefits administration, and HRIS operations, while serving as a trusted point of contact for employees on pay, benefits, and HR systems.

This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented People Operations professional who can step in quickly, operate independently, and bring structure and accuracy to critical HR processes in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end bi-weekly, multi-state U.S. payroll, including new hires, terminations, bonuses, commissions, equity-related income, off-cycle payments, and adjustments.
  • Audit payroll, reconcile payroll to the General Ledger, and resolve discrepancies.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax and wage-and-hour requirements.
  • Administer employee benefits, including health and welfare plans, 401(k), open enrollment, qualifying life events, COBRA, leaves, and vendor coordination.
  • Manage employee data, workflows, and integrations within Rippling, the company's HRIS.
  • Prepare payroll, headcount, compensation, and benefits reporting and support audits and compliance requirements.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for employee questions relating to payroll, benefits, deductions, and HR systems.
  • Document processes, strengthen controls, and identify opportunities to streamline and automate People Operations.

Requirements

  • 3-5+ years of hands-on U.S. multi-state payroll and benefits administration experience.
  • Proven ability to independently manage payroll from start to finish.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. payroll tax and wage-and-hour requirements.
  • Working knowledge of ERISA, COBRA, ACA, and FMLA.
  • Experience with a modern HRIS/payroll platform; Rippling and/or Deel experience is a plus.
  • Strong Excel skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and handle confidential employee information with discretion.
  • Experience in a high-growth, financial services, fintech, or technology environment is preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred: CPP, FPC, CEBS, experience with equity compensation, payroll-to-GL reconciliation, or HRIS optimization.

Interested?

If you have hands-on experience across U.S. payroll, benefits, and HRIS administration and are interested in learning more about this opportunity, please apply with your resume. I'd be happy to share additional details with qualified candidates.
