JOB SUMMARY
Molecular Genetics Technologist III performs routine, moderate-complexity, and high-complexity molecular laboratory testing with a high degree of independence to support the diagnosis and treatment of genetic diseases. This role demonstrates advanced technical proficiency, strong analytical judgment, and consistent accuracy while ensuring compliance with laboratory quality, safety, and regulatory standards. The Technologist III leads troubleshooting of assay and workflow issues, supports process improvement and workflow continuity, and serves as a technical resource and mentor to junior staff.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare reagents, controls, and calibrators, and monitor instrument performance.
- Document test results accurately in LIMS and laboratory records.
- Perform and document routine equipment/instrument maintenance, calibration/function checks, and preventive maintenance per SOP.
- Maintain laboratory compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Train or assist new technologists in standard workflows.
- Escalate unusual results, significant deviations, or complex issues to senior staff or supervisors.
- Participate in ongoing training, competency assessments, and proficiency testing as assigned.
- Performs other duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) or higher in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related chemical, physical, or biological science field from an accredited institution required.
- 4-6 Years relevant experience in regulated clinical laboratory testing environments
- Working knowledge of laboratory instrumentation, quality control (QC), and troubleshooting.
Preferred
- MB(ASCP) or MT(ASCP)
