Interstate Waste Services (IWS) is hiring experienced Diesel Mechanics to join our growing maintenance team. You'll be responsible for maintaining and repairing a fleet of diesel trucks and heavy equipment that keeps our operations moving safely and efficiently.
Responsibilities include:
- Diagnose and repair diesel engines and major vehicle systems
- Troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, brake, suspension, and air systems
- Perform preventive maintenance inspections (PMIs)
- Rebuild and replace major components
- Utilize computer diagnostics to identify and resolve issues
- Complete maintenance records and work orders using fleet software
- Conduct vehicle safety inspections
- Respond to equipment breakdowns and service calls
- Maintain a clean, organized, and OSHA-compliant shop
- Follow all company safety standards and procedures
- 3+ years of diesel mechanic experience
- Computer diagnostic experience
- Experience repairing heavy-duty trucks and equipment
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Commitment to safety and quality workmanship
- Waste industry experience
- Heavy equipment / "yellow iron" experience
- Trade school certification or technical training
- Experience maintaining refuse trucks, roll-offs, and heavy fleet equipment
