Job description

Job Description Job Description
About the Role: As a Construction Electrician, you will install and terminate new electrical infrastructure: conduit, cable tray, underground duct bank, cable, wire, and 480 V building and feeder work. This is a build job, not an operating-plant job - pull, land, and energize new equipment from drawings, then turn it over. You will follow lockout/tagout and grounding procedures and support first energization of new 480 V systems. This position is primarily based in Memphis, TN. This is an hourly position with overtime.
Specific Responsibilities:
  • Install, terminate, and land new campus electrical equipment, including breakers, transformers, switches, buswork, control systems, and batteries at 480 V.
  • Install conduit, cable tray, cable, wire, and terminations per issued-for-construction drawings; perform underground duct bank, trench, and cable-pull work.
  • Perform installation quality checks and electrical testing (voltmeters, ohmmeters, ammeters, insulation megger) and assist with acceptance and commissioning tests on new gear.
  • Read and interpret construction drawings, one-lines, schematics, wiring diagrams, and work orders.
  • Follow lockout/tagout (LOTO), grounding, clearance procedures, NFPA 70E, and PPE requirements on an active construction site.
  • Uncrate, set, and dress equipment; climb structures; operate hand and power tools, pulls, blowers, pumps, and portable generators.
  • Support construction energization sequences, punch-list closeout, and turnover to operations with engineers and vendors.
  • Document work performed, test results, and as-built markups.
  • Operate company vehicles and specialized equipment; inspect and store personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Perform similar or less skilled incidental duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
  • 5+ years of industrial or data center electrical construction installing conduit, tray, duct bank, cable, and 480 V terminations.
  • Ability to read construction drawings, one-lines, manuals, and work packages.
  • Proficiency with common electrical test tools (multimeter, megger, ammeter) and construction hand and power tools.
  • Working knowledge of NFPA 70E and lockout/tagout (LOTO).
  • OSHA 30 or equivalent construction safety training in addition to NFPA 70E.
  • Hourly position with overtime; willingness to work nights, weekends, and extended shifts during construction and energization.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • Current state journeyman electrician license (Tennessee or Mississippi preferred, or equivalent state journeyman license with the ability to obtain TN or MS).
  • Industrial, manufacturing, or data center construction experience building raceway and cable plant.
  • Experience on large-scale, multi-site construction projects that required a travel rotation.
Additional Requirements:
  • Ability to perform job duties that require standing, kneeling, crouching, twisting upper body, working in cramped positions, climbing, lifting up to 50 lbs., and working on ladders/lifts at elevated heights.
  • Ability to rapidly change roles/responsibilities while working in a high-paced, challenging work environment.
  • Stand: up to 6 hours per day.
  • Sit: up to 3 hours per day.
  • Push/Pull: up to 75 lbs. (unassisted) 1-2 hours per day.
  • Overhead reach: up to 3 hours per day.
  • Walk: up to 3 hours per day.
  • Lift/Carry: up to 50 lbs. (unassisted) 1-2 hours per day.
