Job Description Job Description

Blackbeard Maritime Engineering LLC is looking for a dependable, mechanically capable person who wants a

long-term career in the marine trade. This is not a position for someone who needs to be supervised every minute. We are

looking for someone who wants to become increasingly independent, work on boats throughout the San Diego area, take

ownership of assigned jobs, and build a future in the marine service industry.

Position Overview

• Full-time: 40 hours per week.

• Starting compensation: $1,200 per week, equivalent to $30.00 per hour for 40 hours. Any overtime or other required

wage treatment will be handled in accordance with applicable law.

• Initial trial period: 3 months.

• Performance reviews: Initial review at the end of the 3-month trial period, followed by regular 3-month performance

reviews.

• Annual compensation review: The position is intended to include an annual pay increase, subject to continued

employment, performance, responsibilities, and company policy.

• Work style: Mobile field service plus shop/boatyard work. The goal is for the mechanic to become capable of completing

routine assignments independently.

What You Will Be Doing

• Routine gasoline and diesel marine engine service, inspections, troubleshooting, and repair.

• Oil and filter services, fuel-system service, cooling-system service, belts, hoses, impellers, zincs/anodes, batteries, and

preventive maintenance.

• Basic through advanced engine diagnostics, no-start diagnosis, overheating diagnosis, fuel problems, leaks, vibration

complaints, and performance issues.

• Transmission, running-gear, steering, trim-tab, and related mechanical service.

• Marine hydraulic troubleshooting and repair, including hoses, fittings, pumps, steering, actuators, and related systems.

• Marine plumbing work involving freshwater, raw-water, sanitation, bilge, washdown, pumps, valves, hoses, and fittings.

• 12/24/32 VDC and 120/240 VAC marine electrical troubleshooting, batteries, charging systems, starters, alternators,

pumps, relays, breakers, wiring, and accessories.

• Marine HVAC and refrigeration diagnosis/service when qualified. Full HVAC proficiency is preferred but is not required.

• Generator service and troubleshooting.

• Repowers, equipment replacement, refit work, system upgrades, and general yacht repair.

• Documenting work performed, identifying additional repairs, maintaining an organized work area, and communicating

clearly about job status.
