We are looking to hire a Junior Carpenter / Handyman to join our team! Your main responsibilities will be carpentry / fire stopping work in hospital setting as well as miscellaneous handyman work associated with cosmetic renovations & repairs.
Role and Responsibilities
- MUST show up on time & Following safeguards, rules, and regulations per the job site foreman/manager.
- Perform Installation & Repairs of framing, sheetrock, doors & hardware, ceiling tile, etc.
- Patch holes and apply drywall compound, sand and prepare for painting on newly constructed or repaired walls.
- Removing and reinstalling fixtures (e g, doorknobs, electric switch covers) as necessary.
- Misc. maintenance work including minor masonry repairs, fire stopping, cleaning, etc., as needed.
- Ability to work above ceiling documenting and performing fire stopping with various materials.
- Maintaining jobsite inventory of supplies, site tools and equipment.
- Provide accurate and complete documentation of prior conditions and work performed for customer reporting using phone/tablet.
- Maintain professional and timely communication with customers and AFG management.
- Reviewing and implementing work orders and assignments
- Following safeguards, rules, and regulations.

Job Requirements
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be self-motivated and possess the ability to perform work throughout a facility self-directed which includes communication with customers and staff.
- Maintain a professional appearance which includes consistent on-time arrival at job sites.
- Administer proper infectious control measures as per hospital requirements when performing inspections.
- Ability to learn how to read, follow, and label Life Safety Plans/Drawings.
- Capable of aligning work schedule with the on-site need for tools and materials, which includes unloading and loading of these materials and tools, and any other necessary equipment.
- Knowledge of computer software (Microsoft Word & Excel, Email, and Adobe Acrobat)
- Efficient with smartphones, tablets, computers, and chosen applications for daily reporting.
- 20% out-of-town travel required (30+ miles).
Additional Requirements
- Valid driver license with an acceptable driving record.
- Minimum 2 - 3 years experience in carpentry / building renovations & repairs.

- 8:00am - 4:00pm regular work hours at jobsites throughout NYC & Long Island
- The employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs & ladders; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk and hear.
- Associate is required to spend 30% or more of time climbing and using various ladders.
- Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds independently.
- Working extended hours which includes evenings and weekends (compensation provided).
