Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Frac Mechanic - Mobile Maintenance to join our field maintenance team. The Frac Mechanic is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of hydraulic fracturing equipment and associated mobile support equipment.
This position requires a strong understanding of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, power transmission, and high-pressure equipment. The successful candidate will be safety-focused, mechanically skilled, and capable of responding quickly to equipment issues in demanding field environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on frac equipment and mobile support equipment.
- Diagnose and repair diesel engines, transmissions, drivetrains, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and auxiliary equipment.
- Troubleshoot equipment failures using diagnostic software, test equipment, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Inspect frac pumps, power ends, fluid ends, transmissions, engines, hydraulic systems, and related components.
- Perform scheduled maintenance, inspections, servicing, and component replacements according to manufacturer and company requirements.
- Respond to field equipment breakdowns and perform repairs in a timely and safe manner.
- Assist with equipment rig-up, rig-down, mobilization, and demobilization when required.
- Maintain frac equipment in a condition that supports safe and reliable field operations.
- Identify potential equipment failures and communicate maintenance concerns to supervisors and operations personnel.
- Complete maintenance records, inspection reports, work orders, and parts documentation accurately.
- Maintain an organized service truck, tools, spare parts, and mobile maintenance area.
- Perform welding, fabrication, mechanical repairs, and other maintenance duties as required.
- Follow all company safety policies, environmental requirements, and applicable oilfield regulations.
- Participate in emergency call-outs, extended shifts, and field assignments as required.
- Work closely with operators and other maintenance personnel to minimize equipment downtime.
Equipment Experience
Experience with the following types of equipment is highly desirable:
- Frac pumps
- Frac power units
- Frac blenders
- Sand handling equipment
- Chemical units
- Data vans and auxiliary units
- High-pressure pumps and fluid systems
- Diesel engines and power-generation equipment
- Heavy-duty trucks and trailers
- Mobile hydraulic equipment
- Other oilfield service equipment
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience as a frac mechanic, heavy equipment mechanic, diesel mechanic, or similar mobile maintenance position.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, transmissions, and mechanical power systems.
- Experience troubleshooting and repairing oilfield or high-horsepower equipment preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical schematics.
- Familiarity with computerized diagnostic equipment and engine diagnostic software.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Welding and fabrication experience preferred.
- Ability to work independently in remote field locations.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
- Ability to work extended hours, nights, weekends, and on-call rotations as required.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Relevant trade certification or technical training is an asset.

- Follow lockout/tagout and other applicable energy-isolation procedures.
- Maintain compliance with applicable federal, state, and company requirements.
Physical & Working Requirements
- Ability to work outdoors in hot, cold, dusty, wet, and changing weather conditions.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy tools, parts, and equipment.
- Ability to climb, bend, kneel, crawl, and work in confined or awkward positions.
- Ability to work around high-pressure systems, heavy equipment, rotating machinery, and other oilfield hazards.
- Ability to work extended shifts and travel to remote field locations.
- Ability to work safely and effectively under time-sensitive field conditions.
