Job description

Data Architecture Design: develop and implement comprehensive data architecture strategies, including logical, physical, and conceptual models, to support the institution's data-driven initiatives. Enterprise Data Management: define and enforce policies for data governance, data quality, metadata management, and master data management to ensure consistency and reliability across systems. Integration and Interoperability: design and oversee integration solutions that enable seamless data flow between on-premises and cloud systems, ensuring compatibility across applications used in academic and administrative domains. Cloud and Hybrid Data Strategies: lead the implementation and adoption of hybrid and multi-cloud environments, optimizing the migration of legacy databases and developing cloud native data solutions. Data Security and Compliance: establish and implement security policies and protocols to secure sensitive information, including but not limited to financial, HR and student data , ensuring compliance with FERPA, HIPAA, and other relevant regulations. Stakeholder Collaboration: partner with institutional leaders, faculty, and IT teams to identify data needs, develop solutions, and align initiatives with organizational objectives. Performance Optimization: monitor and optimize database and data pipeline performance, addressing latency and scalability challenges to meet operational demands. Advanced Analytics and AI Enablement: support advanced analytics by creating robust data platforms, ensuring accessibility to high-quality data for predictive modeling, AI, and machine learning applications. Project Leadership: guide cross-functional teams in the execution of data-related projects, managing timelines, resources, and deliverables. Training and Mentorship: provide expertise and mentorship to data engineers, integration developer, analysts, and other architects, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous learning. No supervisory duties; no direct reports. Technology Evaluation and Adoption: stay current and evaluate emerging technologies and tools to enhance the institution's data capabilities and recommend solutions that align with future growth. Documentation and Reporting: maintain detailed documentation of data architecture, integration flows, and processes, while generating reports for institutional leadership and compliance audits. Minimum Requirements: Any suitable combination of education, training, or experience is acceptable. Bachelors or equivalent degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or related technical field plus 5 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience as a data architect, data engineer, database architect, data science director, specialist, or other related position; or a Bachelors or equivalent degree in any technical or engineering field plus 6 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience as a data architect, data engineer, database architect, data science director, specialist, or other related position. Qualifying experience must include at least 2 years of work experience in the following: artificial intelligence (AI) architecture including large language models (LLMs), prompt engineering, and semantic search; data architecture and solution design; cloud data platforms; data modeling and data management standards; data integration and engineering; data governance, quality, and security; privacy and regulatory compliance; stakeholder engagement and communication; and strategic planning. Must have good oral and written English communication skills, including the ability to work effectively with senior management, staff and IT teams remotely. May work remotely from a home office; schedule subject to manager approval. Must be authorized to work full-time in U.S. without employer sponsor. Pay scale $201,357.39-$247,855.37/yr.
