Paraprofessional (Special Education)

Compensation Range: $22-27/hour
Location: Wooster, OH; Onsite - School Setting

Position Summary
As a Special Education Paraprofessional, you will play a pivotal role in helping shape the minds and hearts of young learners. You will support teachers and students in an engaging and inclusive learning environment that fosters growth, curiosity, and a love for learning. Responsibilities
Schedule / Shift:
  • Shift details: School Day Schedule
  • Hours per week: 35 hours per week
  • Contract length: School Year
Key Duties
  • Assisting in the implementation of lesson plans that align with curriculum standards and cater to individual learning styles.
  • Foster a positive classroom environment that encourages active participation and collaboration among students.
  • Assist with managing classroom behavior effectively through positive reinforcement strategies and behavior management techniques.
  • Collaborate with parents, caregivers, educators, and other members of the students' IEP team to ensure each student's needs are being met.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in education, literacy, math, and childhood development.
  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students who need additional academic assistance
  • Monitor and supervise students during classroom activities, transitions, and breaks
  • Help prepare and organize instructional materials, resources, and lesson aids
  • Reinforce classroom rules and behavioral expectations to maintain a safe learning environment
  • Track and document student progress and report observations to lead teachers
  • Support students with special needs or individualized education plans (IEPs) as directed
Requirements
Education:
  • Associate's degree or ETS ParaPro Assessment with the minimum Ohio passing score or higher.
Licenses & Certifications
Experience:
  • Previous experience working with special needs children is required.
Skills
  • Previous experience working in an educational environment with behavioral/Special Education students
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Patient, nurturing, and adaptable approach to working with diverse student populations
  • Ability to follow directions and collaborate effectively with teachers and staff
  • Familiarity with implementing curriculum and lesson planning strategies
  • Experience in behavior management techniques tailored for diverse learners
  • CPR/First Aid certification is a plus, or willingness to learn
