Power Plant Operator

Summary Job Description: The Power Plan Operator maintains continuity of service for the heating, cooling, steam, gas, water treatment, general utilities, cogeneration systems, emergency back up systems, equipment and machinery necessary for the functioning of Hospital and allied property. Observes and enforces safety regulations and practices and maintains safety and fire equipment. Required Skills: Knowledge of use of personal computer and ability to learn operation software applications (i.e. METASYS Energy Management System). Knowledge of standards and codes applicable to health care facilities. Knowledge with tools and methods of trade. Knowledge of Boiler Steam Systems, Electrical Safety procedures not greater than 480 volts, and Electrical Controls. Ability to read and follow blueprints. Knowledge of MSDS information Knowledge of Life Safety code, NFDA and ADA requirements and specifications. Ability to read, write and speak English. Ability to make mathematical calculations and follow detailed written and oral instruction. Required Experience: Work Experience: Four years of experience in industrial, electrical, mechanical and/or HVAC required. License/Registration/Certification: HVAC Certified Technician preferred. Education and Training: High School diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree or completion of an accredited trade course in electrical, HVAC, mechanical, industrial technology or related field preferred.
