Position Title: Cafeteria Worker/Leader
Location: Lakewood City Schools / Lakewood, OH
Employment Type: Full-Time / Monday-Friday
Pay Rate: $18/Hour
About the Role
Dedicated School Staffing is seeking a reliable and hardworking Cafeteria Worker/Leader to support the school nutrition team. This role helps ensure students receive healthy, safe, and timely meals each day. The Cafeteria Worker/Leader helps oversee daily kitchen and cafeteria operations, including food preparation, serving, inventory, ordering, and maintaining food safety and sanitation standards. This position also supports the nutrition services team and helps ensure the cafeteria runs efficiently and smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
Follow assignments, directions, district policies, and administrative procedures
Prepare and cook food according to standardized recipes and district guidelines
Follow all food safety, sanitation, health, and nutrition regulations
Assist with receiving, organizing, storing, dating, and rotating food and supplies
Verify deliveries and report shortages or spoiled products
Use products and supplies efficiently to reduce waste
Set up serving lines, serve students and staff, and replenish supplies
Operate the cash register and accurately account for meals served
Monitor students and help maintain an orderly cafeteria environment
Operate dishwashers and hand wash large cookware, including pots, pans, trays, and cutlery
Clean and sanitize work surfaces, equipment, serving lines, kitchen floors, and other areas
Properly store leftover food, supplies, and equipment
Report equipment malfunctions, safety concerns, discipline issues, and other concerns to supervisors
Assist with fire, health, and safety inspections as needed
Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities
Learn job functions throughout the Nutrition Services Department and work in other kitchens when needed
Prepare weekly food and non-food orders
Assist other staff with unexpected or urgent situations
Maintain a professional appearance and positive rapport with students and staff
Perform other job-related duties as directed
Required Qualifications
Must be 18 years of age or older
High school diploma or GED
Clean criminal background checks
Obtain Ohio ID account & enroll in Ohio rapback program
Ability to follow directions and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Basic understanding of food safety and sanitation practices
Ability to lift, carry, or move items as required
Dependability, punctuality, and strong work ethic
Adherence to the Licensure Code of Professional Conduct for Ohio Educators
Preferred Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Previous experience in food service, cafeteria work, or customer service
Knowledge of safe food-handling procedures
Ability to operate standard kitchen equipment
Ability to prepare standardized recipes using commercial kitchen equipment
Ability to comply with nutrition, health, and safety laws/regulations
Ability to physically manage items up to 25 lbs.
